Ladywell match report: Narrow loss in Ron Hams Cup

Ladywell played their first Ron Hams Cup match of the season away at Dulwich Park on Wednesday 31st May.

The competition format has changed this season, with six Round Robin matches - home and away against the other three teams, Dulwich Park, Southwark Park and Southwark Sports. Each match involves one singles match, with the winner being the forst to 21 points, one pairs match over 21 ends and one triples match over 18 ends, with two points for each individual win and four extra points for the overall win.

In the match against Dulwich Park, Mark Simmons had a convincing win for Ladywell in the singles match, 21-7.

The pair of Norman Lewis and Richard Moorhouse also had a good win in a closer contest, eventually gaining the upper hand by 24-16.

Unfortunately, in the triples match, the Ladywell triple of Alvin Nelson, Sally Bryan and Howard Smith went down heavily, 12-44.

This meant that overall, Dulwich Park took the win by 67-57, gaining 6 points, with Ladywell gaining 4 points for the two wins.
